WHO AM I?
My name is Leora, and I am a former fashion exec with a passion for travel, writing, and style. After a year of corporate life, spending all my free time reading Lonely Planet guides and wishing I could see the world I so often read about, I decided to make a change. I quit my stable desk job at one of the top international luxury fashion houses to travel the world and share my experiences.
As a fashion-conscious traveler, I realized that it was hard to find a guidebook that prioritized style and culture, over traditional tourist trap sites. Here, I will be sharing my street style photography, guides to art and culture, and local fashion finds from around the world.
WHAT IS AN AMERICAN GIRL IN TRANSIT?
An American Girl in Transit follows my travels around the world in pursuit of local fashion, culture, art, design, and even food! This site aims to be a resource for anyone looking to travel in style, whether you have a budget of $30/day or $3000.

Good luck in your travels! Sounds like so much fun! =) There is so much out there to explore.
Thanks Jen! I look forward to reading about yours as well!
Wow, you are leading a dream life! I wish I was that wise at 25. Keep plugging away at what you love and awesome things will happen!
Thanks Dalai! It is not all sunshine and roses, but the hard things are what make it all worth it at the end! Thanks for your support!
Looking forward to meeting you at the Esc meetup in NYC, that’s a nice blog, definitely will have tons of questions when we’ll see each other
Stephanie,
I look forward to meeting you as well!
Good luck in your travels. I’ve always wanted to go to Peru, so looking forward to following your adventures. I love traveling as well, been to 23 countries so far…. and as another American girl in transit, I moved to Norway and ended up meeting the man of my dreams. And now I’m trying to get more people to travel to the North Cape of Norway. Let me know if you head up this way.
Erica,
I have always wanted to visit Norway. I will definitely let you know if I plan to head that way! Hopefully I will follow in your footsteps and meet the man of my dreams! Keep reading and I hope you enjoy my journey to Peru and other future travels!
Jealous.
Glad you like the passed-along quote about Sayulita (passion, tequila, siestas). Maybe you’ll bounce there in your travels and see for yourself. Haven’t been to Peru, but in Chile I recommend Patagonia, and hiking part/all of the “W” and seeing the Cuernos del Paine and the Torres del Paine. Enjoy the adventure.
Hi TB,
I would love to visit there one day! I’m absolutely planning on hiking through Patagonia! Thanks for the recommendations, I will definitely try to check them out. Enjoy your adventures as well!
Leora

ADT

Good stuff. I hope to see more.
Hi Leora,
Such a cool idea. Good luck with that.
Would like to talk about ‘Travel architecture’ sometime soon.

Your blog is very interesting. I found it when I was visiting another persons blog who clicked the like button on mine. I love to travel, eat and exercise. Unfortunately I have to work to do these things or I would do them 24/7. I look forward to reading your adventures. I hope you will do the same and visit mine.
Chris
I hope to someday save enough money where I can quit my desk job and travel the world! Until then….I’ll live through you
Really envious about you being able to do this. Looking forward to reading your about your adventures. Hope you find some good food while you’re out there! Give me a shout if you find yourself traveling to Ann Arbor, which I’m sure is on everyone’s list to see…
Thanks for checking out the site! I will definitely be blogging about the food on my travels so check back for that! Ill keep you posted on Ann Arbor!
Leora
Yay! Can’t wait to see what you bring in your bag to stay stylish. Don’t forget to post your packing list! Thanks for the inspiration.
Good luck on your travels. Glad to read about a young woman attempting to expand her own world. I tell the young woman at the high school where I work that I heard something very wise on television. It was a woman who engages groups of people about racism. She said to a pretty young woman who wanted the world to be nice, “cuteness only counts in high school. Use your brain.”
I just wanted to say hi to you. In this new brave world we meet with people from all countries and ways of life. To me it is amazing how we can find like-minded people giving the diversity of their background. Ready to visit Brazil? http://ayrton.com/360/fs/pages/paoacucar4fla.html Sugarloaf Mountain (in Portuguese, Pão de Açúcar), is a peak situated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the mouth of Guanabara Bay on a peninsula that sticks out into the Atlantic Ocean. Rising 396 metres (1,299 ft) above the harbor, its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined loaf sugar.
Greetings from Brazil.
Nice to hear from you Romero! Brazil is definitely a destination on my list to see! Thanks for the beautiful pictures!
Thank you. You are most welcome Leora.
You are living the dream! I hope one day I can do the same thing and just get up and go. Good luck on your travels, I look forward to reading about your adventures.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy!
